Happy Tuesday, Camden Chatters. I hope you had a nice off day and didnt spend too much time thinking about the Orioles. They are back in action tonight against the San Francisco Giants. The game kicks off the final homestand of the year, a six-game stretch with series against the Giants and Tigers. After that they go on the road for three against the Yankees gulp) and three with the Twins to end the regular season. Speaking of the Yankees, lets talk about the Orioles chances of overtaking the division. If the Yankees go 6-6 over their final 12 games they will end the season with 93 wins. For the Orioles to reach 93 wins, they have to finish the season 9-3. That is a tall order for any team, let alone one that has played under.500 baseball since June. As for the Yankees finishing at just 6-6? They are on the West Coast for series against the Mariners 77-73) and As 65-85). They follow that with the home series against our Orioles and close out the season with three against the Pirates 71-78). So.yeah. Nothing is impossible
Noah Denoyer Jersey, but winning the division feels that way, even with three games head-to-head. And what of the team trailing the Orioles in the Wild Card, the Kansas City Royals? After losing to the Tigers last night, the Royals sit 2.5 games back of the Orioles with 11 games to play. However, the Os hold the tiebreaker with a 4-2 head-to-head record so that lead is effectively 3.5 games. If the Orioles finish the season 6-6, they will have a record of 90-72. For the Royals to reach 91 wins, they must finish the season 9-2. If the Orioles finish with 87 wins
https://www.oriolesathletics.com/collections/toby-welk-jersey, the Royals must go 6-5. The idea of the Orioles finishing 3-9 is awful. and I think its unlikely. But its also likely that the Royals will finish better than 6-5. As for the third Wild Card team, the Twins, the Orioles close the season against them. The Orioles are five games ahead of them. If the last series has the Orioles in a position to fall to the third spot based on the outcome, I suspect well all have been in a very bad mood for the previous 10 days. Its all speculation and we have to just let the season play out. But it seems to me that the first wild card spot is where the Orioles will end up. The Rays broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning with two runs off of Jorge Lpez. The Orioles came back with one run in the eighth on an Adley Rutschman homer and tied the game in the ninth on an RBI double from Adam Frazier. The teams exchanged Manfred Men in the 10th and the Orioles walked it off on a sac fly from Cedric Mullins. It was the teams 93rd win and gave them a two-game lead in the division.
