Question on DNS-UL and DNS-LLQ Support

David Li
Hi Everyone,

I wonder if current ISC DHCP implementation supports these two features:

LLQ             http://files.dns-sd.org/draft-sekar-dns-llq.txt
UL               http://files.dns-sd.org/draft-sekar-dns-ul.txt

UL= Update Leases
LLQ = Long Lived Query.

They are basically used on DNS-SD (Service Discovery).
http://www.dns-sd.org/ServerSetup.html

They were originally in Apple's dnsextd implementation long ago. In my
own test using ISC DHCP and BIND 9 on Centos 7, it seems that UL is
working. When a client went away, its
record also got removed. But I am not sure if this is the real UL
implementation. I am also not sure about the LLQ feature.

Thanks.

RE: Question on DNS-UL and DNS-LLQ Support

Ted Lemon
These are DNS server extensions, not DHCP server extensions.

I think there's some new work going on with this in the DNSSD working group in the IETF.
