Behavior of reverse "zone" stanzas for dynamic DNS

Matthew Kassawara
Hi,

I'm trying to determine the correct configuration and behavior of "zone" stanzas for dynamic DNS in the DHCPD (4.3.3) configuration file. If a forward "zone" stanza contains a "primary" parameter, DHCPD uses the "primary" parameter value to determine the host for DNS queries and updates. If I remove the "primary" parameter, DHCPD appears to use the SOA record to determine the host for DNS queries and updates. However, reverse "zone" stanzas behave differently. If I remove the "primary" parameter from a reverse "zone" stanza, DHCPD still appears to use the SOA record to determine the host for DNS queries and updates, but neglects to include TSIG with updates which causes the DNS server to respond with a "refused" message. I would expect the same behavior from forward and reverse "zone" stanzas.

Thanks,
Matt
